Growing up on my family’s dairy farm and living in the country all my life has given me an appreciation of animals.  I have always loved my pets as if they were a member of my family.  Over the years I had quite the menagerie, from birds to fish to pet rats...and yes, I drove my parents nuts!  In 1994 I purchased my first dog, Maggie.  She was a chocolate lab and I loved her dearly.  She was a very special dog and was part of our family for 15 years.  Maggie started my obsession with dogs.

In 2003, shortly before my husband and I were married, we purchased our first lab together…Dixie, a beautiful AKC black female.  For the next four years, my husband and I went on the adventure of a lifetime, raising lab puppies and enjoying every minute of it!

In 2007, I met my first dachshund.  It was love at first sight! He promptly licked me on the end of my nose and snuggled in, looking at me lovingly with soulful eyes.  At that point, I knew I had to have a dachshund of my own.  Less than 3 months later, Archie came home to live with us.
